Starting a Freelance Writing Career
Starting a Freelance Writing Career
By G Brandt
Action is the driving force behind all successful freelance writers. To be successful
in a freelance writing career choice you need to take some kind of action. You will not make a dime sitting and thinking about a writing career, you need to make a decision and then act on it. Remember, if all you do is take action, you will have a greater chance of becoming a successful freelance writer. Looking at the problem from a slightly different angle, if you don’t take action, you will NEVER be a successful writer!
A myth is circulating on the internet, that a lazy person can achieve success. Your in-box may be full of emails from someone telling you about an "Easy road to make you rich, rich, rich, without work, and it will only requires a few minutes a day", Don't fall for the "load of bull" being pushed your way. If you invest in this junk, you are wasting your hard-earned money. That out of the way, a writing career requires WORK!
I have never met, or heard of a successful freelance writer who got there being lazy. Don't misunderstand, I’m not talking about the person who works smart at building a writing system or template to crank out articles, this writer is simply using their head. The writers you see on TV, or writing on the beach, worked their butt off to get there.
If you think working hard is a 9-5 job, and having weekends off, think again. Working hard is your 9-5 in your job, then writing 8 hours a day on top of that plus writing on the weekends to make your deadlines, until such time as you can replace the job, and write full time.
Hopefully this doesn't sway your decision to become a writer, but at least you will be entering the freelance writing career path with your eyes wide open. After all, that is required when making a business decision, isn’t it.
